What is a platform bed for Futons?

Many people are familiar with futons and even futon frames. However, occasionally people are unaware of what Platform Beds are for futons. Platform beds are simply that, a bed like a platform, that you lay the futon mattress on. It is essentially a bed frame frame with a platform. They look much like your typical bed. Unlike standard futon frames, the futon platform bed does not fold up into a sofa. Some people prefer this over the often seen futon frames, because they like the look of a traditional bed, but do not want to pay for the cost of a traditional bed with a box spring and mattress. The platform bed is also a lot lighter and easier to move around than a traditional bed with mattress.
