There are many different types of headache but tension headaches are most commonly seen type of headache today. Tension headaches were originally thought to result from tension or stress and this is why they are called tension headaches. Research however has shown that this is not in fact the case and so a few years ago the name was officially changed to tension-type headaches, although of course everybody still refers to them as tension headaches.
tension headache can last anywhere from a few minutes to several days and can be more or less constant of tend to come and go. If you suffer from tension headaches on about half of the days in a month then they are said to be episodic but, if you experience headaches more than half the time for a period of six months or more then you condition is described as being chronic.
