Treating Cycstic Acne – Agressive is Best!
April 25th, 2008 by admin
Of all the types of acne, it seems from my reading that cystic acne would be some of the most difficult to cure. I remember being in high school, feeling bad for kids who had bad cases of acne. I thought that it was due to their poor hygiene, but that is actually not the case, particularly with this type of acne. Cystic acne is caused by a build-up of sebum, an oily subtance (the same subtance that ear wax is composed of!). Maybe the amount of sebum present in the pores has something to do with genetics? Luckily, there are a few methods for treating cystic acne that have proved to work quite well. A common treatment uses a drug called Isotretinoin, which comes in oral and topical formulas. If cystic acne is not attacked aggressively with antibiotics or topical creams, it is very likely to leave ugly scars behind.
