I have been trying to find out about my family tree without spending an exorbitant amount of money. The website that I feel I receive the best bang for my buck is the social security death index. It is only $10 for a year of unlimited searches. I have been able to do most of my research for $10! I am going to take the family tree as far as I can before I seek outside help. My family does get a bit tricky since family members were raised by their grandparents and referred to as children. There are also some instances of second marriages & adoptions.
